The occupying authorities have allowed private cars to bring 200 liters of gasoline into Crimea via the Kerch Bridge. As a result, fuel is once again available on the peninsula — on the black market, at 300 rubles per liter. That’s equivalent to 3.5 euros. By comparison, in the most expensive European countries—Switzerland, Norway, and Monaco — the price of gasoline does not exceed 2 euros. For most Crimeans, the current price is unaffordable; it’s cheaper to take a taxi. However, only electric and natural gas-powered vehicles are currently operating on the route. The price of natural gas has doubled, from 35 to 70 rubles per liter, but the peninsula still has its own reserves for now.
People are buying up food in bulk. Prices at wholesale warehouses have caught up with those at retail stores. The most popular items are buckwheat and sugar. They are delivered via the Kerch Bridge, so there are currently no restrictions on their sale.
There are problems with bus and minibus drivers. After the mainland areas of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions came under the control of Ukrainian drones, drivers are refusing en masse to take this route.
Summer vacations have been postponed until fall. Changes to children’s camps have been canceled until September 1. Children from “Artek” were hastily evacuated to the Russian mainland.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces and Special Operations Forces managed to disable the Aqyar (Sevastopol) power plants. Local authorities promised to restore power to the city by 9:00 p.m. on June 24. They succeeded only partially.
The situation is most dire in western Crimea and in the region’s largest city, Kezlev (Yevpatoria). It is a target for Ukrainian forces from both sides, as a significant amount of Russian military equipment has accumulated in Tarkhankut and Saki — equipment that Moscow has been using for five years now to terrorize southern and central Ukraine. That is precisely why Kezlev is currently in a difficult situation: the power is cut off every three hours, and cash withdrawals from ATMs are limited.
