Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fizzo has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to a meeting where he wants to discuss stopping the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine.
On his Facebook page, he recorded a video call and invited to talks “as soon as possible,” reports UNIAN.
“The meeting can take place on the territory of the Slovak Republic, near the state border between Slovakia and Ukraine. Symbolically, for a trip to the territory of Slovakia, you could use a direct rail connection from Kiev to Kosice, which is the result of the joint efforts of our governments,” he said.
Fizo also stressed that Ukraine's decision to stop gas transit allegedly causes significant damage to the European Union, Slovakia and even Ukraine itself. The Slovak prime minister said he did not want to further “escalate tensions”.
“As the head of government of the Slovak Republic, I have a different opinion than you on a number of issues. In particular, I do not believe in the strategy according to which the continuation of mutual bloodshed in the war in Ukraine strengthens Ukraine's position in possible peace negotiations,” Fizo said.
That is why he always stresses the need for an “immediate cessation of hostilities”.
