59-year-old Crimean Ruslan Mesutov, sentenced to 18 years in prison for membership in the religious community “Alushta”, was transferred to a correctional colony in Yakutia. The stage lasted two months, after which Mesutov was placed in a penalty cell (SHIZO).
This was reported by his sister Lilya Mesutova in a comment to “Crimean Solidarity”, reports Social Crimea.
“Send a person who has so many diseases to the end of geography!.. It was a shock to us,” the sister said.
According to Lili, all personal belongings were taken from Ruslan on his way to the colony, including the Koran and eyeglasses. The political prisoner asked to call a therapist, but it is not yet known whether the doctor visited him.
“On the date, he was in a very bad state: the pressure rose beyond 200, sometimes 250 to 150. We brought him very strong medicines from the Crimea, which were prescribed to him in the prison sanatorium. Doctors diagnosed hypertension. In prison, he was also given a belt for his back, but in the Yakut colony he was also taken away,” Lilia Mesutova noted.
In the colony of Mesutov, they warned that the stay in SHIZO would be long. He does not have the right to use the store or receive appointments. The only thing he is allowed to do is write letters.
Mesutov was one of the founders of the Muslim religious community in Alushta and worked as a security guard at the mosque. He was also engaged in public activities, organized Muslim holidays, helped with burials, conducted prayer services.
On June 10, 2019, four Crimean Tatars - Ruslan Nagayev and Eldar Kantimirov - were detained in the Crimea in Alushta, in the village of Malyi Mayak - Ruslana Mesutova, in the village of Izobilne - Lenura Khalilova, the head of the local religious community “Alushta”.
The Crimean Tatarian was accused of organizing the activities of a terrorist organization (part 1 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and preparing for the forcible seizure of power (part 1 of article 30 and article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In 2021, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
A member of the religious community “Alushta” Ruslan Mesutov was arrested two weeks before the court hearing at which Alushta's lawsuit was to be considered. The lawsuit was filed due to the fact that the community, whose chairman was Lenur Khalilov, used the order of the Council of Ministers, transferred the city mosque. This happened back in 1994. Later, without the cancellation of the transfer act, the mosque was transferred to the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Crimea (DUMK).
The interested parties in this case were the Ministry of Property of Crimea, the DUMK and the State Committee on Nationality and Religion.
2 years later, on August 16, 2021, the Southern District Military Court in the person of Roman Saprunov sentenced the defendants of the Alushtin group “in the case of Hizb ut-Tahrir”. Ruslan Nagayev, Eldar Kantimirov, Ruslan Mesutov and Lenur Khalilov were sentenced to 13, 12 and 18 years in prison in a strict regime colony on charges of terrorism.
Later, the Military Court of Appeal in Vlasis of the Moscow region did not satisfy the appeal complaints of the defenders of the defendants of the Alushtin group "in the case of Hizb ut-Tahrir” and left the sentence valid.
