Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fizzo harshly criticized Ukraine as an unreliable partner and said he was tired of President Volodymyr Zelensky traveling around Europe and “begging” and “blackmailing others”.
As he writes “European Truth”, this was stated by Fizo during a speech to a parliamentary committee on Friday, a video of which he posted on his Facebook page.
A meeting of the parliamentary committee was called by the opposition, which demanded explanations from Fizo regarding his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow, as well as information on Slovakia's further steps in connection with the suspension of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.
Fizo said that in the issue of gas transit from Ukraine to the territory of Slovakia, two options for decisions were prepared, which were allegedly agreed by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.
One of them was to be an agreement between Russia and Azerbaijan for Azerbaijani gas to flow to Slovakia. But, according to Fizo, Vladimir Zelensky broke this agreement.
The second option was the proposal of the parent company SPP to create a subsidiary on the Russian-Ukrainian border so that Slovak gas would be transported to Slovakia through Ukraine.
Fizzo called the president of Ukraine unreliable and said that sometimes he was “fed up by the throat.”
“He walks across Europe, just begs and blackmails others, asks for money. It just has to stop,” the Slovak prime minister said.
Instead, he said Russia has always been a reliable partner when it comes to energy supplies.
“Russia has never deceived us, unlike Ukraine. I remember the situation in 2009, when I was in Ukraine, when I asked the Ukrainian Prime Minister Tymoshenko to give us some gas from the tanks they have in the western part of Ukraine, I got the answer that I was sent to hell. These are typical Ukrainians,” Fizo complained.
Meanwhile, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini said he was refusing to go on an official visit to Kiev because Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian gas.
In addition, in connection with the gas transit stop, Fizo voiced a list of threats to Kyiv, including the use of a veto on the EU decision on Ukraine.
