The representative of the President-elect of the United States on Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, postponed an exploratory trip to Kiev and other European capitals until the inauguration of Donald Trump on January 20.
This is reported by Reuters, citing four sources familiar with the planning of the trip, reports TSN.
Kellogg originally planned to visit Kiev to meet with Ukrainian leaders in early January, media reported in December. His team also organized meetings with officials in other European capitals, including Rome and Paris. But that trip has been postponed, anonymous sources said.
Kellogg is expected to arrive in Ukraine after Trump takes office, although an exact date has not yet been set.
It is not clear why a representative of the newly elected US president postponed a trip to Kiev. Neither Kellogg nor a representative from Ukraine's embassy in Washington immediately responded to requests for comment.
Earlier, Kellogg said that Trump wants to bring peace to Ukraine, but that peace must be fair and secure.
