A bipartisan group of members of the US House of Representatives, with whom the Embassy of Ukraine is actively working in the United States, has submitted to the House of Representatives of the US Congress a draft resolution recognizing Russia's actions in Ukraine as an act of genocide.

This is the first piece of legislation concerning Ukraine submitted to the new 119th US Congress.
The preamble of the draft resolution states that the atrocities committed by Russian troops in Ukraine, as well as the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, including children, to the Russian Federation and the occupied territories meet the criteria set out in Article II of the UN Convention on the Prevention of the Crime of Genocide and Punishment for him.
The resolution part of the document condemns the Russian Federation for committing acts of genocide, calls on the United States, in cooperation with NATO and EU allies, to take measures to support the Ukrainian government to prevent further acts of Russian genocide against the Ukrainian people, and supports tribunals and international criminal investigations to prosecute holding Russian political leaders and military personnel to account.
“Thank you Congressmen for passing this important resolution! All crimes of the Russian Federation should be reflected in American law in order to ensure the punishment of Russian criminals and prevent such terrible crimes in the future,” Markarova said.
