The defendant in the case of Crimean Muslims Alexander Sizikov, who has a visual disability of the I group, complained about unsatisfactory conditions of detention during the stage to the correctional institution from Crimea to the Krasnoyarsk region of neighboring Russia. This is reported by the public association “Crimean Solidarity” with reference to Sizikov's letter to lawyer Safia Shabanova, they write Crimea.Realities.
According to the report, on January 14 at the first intermediate station in Kazan, Sizikova was taken to spend the night at the transit point. There, he said, the conditions were acceptable. However, already in the Izhevsk detention center, they have become worse.
Sizikov did not explain what exactly he considered unsatisfactory.
In the next city - Perm, according to the Crimean, he and other convicts were not taken to the correctional institution, and they had to spend the night in a car. On January 19, the prisoners were taken to Yekaterinburg.
“Igor and I (the convict who travels with Sizikov from Crimea, specifies “Crimean Solidarity”) were taken to the third floor for quarantine. There are only two of us in the cell, here the conditions are even worse than in Izhevsk. <... > In general, we are fine, health is normal, there are enough pills and food. There is only one minus - it is very cold and humid here. We put on all our clothes and bask in hot tea,” Sizikov wrote.
He added that on January 21 it can be staged in Novosibirsk. If the stage does not take place, Sizikov and the other detainees will be sent there only next week.
On December 10, it was reported that Alexander Sizikov was transported from the Crimea to the Krasnodar Prison, after which he was to be transferred to one of the “covered” prisons on the territory of the Russian Federation. At that time, the Crimean family was not informed about the final point of the stage.
On September 13, the Military Court of Appeal of Russia upheld the sentence, which provides for 17 years in prison for the man. The next day, the occupying forces took Alexander into custody. In the evening of September 14, Sizikova was taken from the house and taken to the IT Bakhchisarai, not allowing to collect things, his mother Elena told. In the cell, Alexander was alone. Earlier, Alexander's lawyer said that the blind Sizikov moves by the touch and only two days later he was able to navigate where the toilet and sink are located. On the night of September 19, he was transferred to SIZO-1 Simferopol.
According to human rights activists, according to Russian law, people with complete loss of vision should be released from serving sentences in correctional institutions. However, the Russian court still recognized Alexander Sizikov as a person who can serve a sentence in a correctional institution, and employees of the medical unit of the Russian SIZO-1 Simferopol refused to accept his document on all his diseases due to allegedly outdated dates. The medical department said that they themselves will conduct a medical examination of Sizikov.
According to the mother of the Crimean, after an accident in 2009, her son completely lost his sight, and due to another accident, his spleen was cut out. Sizikov also has a chronic disease of the stomach, cervical spine, which is why he needs regular massages and constant monitoring by specialists.
On July 7, 2020, seven people were detained during mass searches in Crimea: Ismet Ibragimov, Zekirya Muratov, Vadim Bektemirov, Emil Ziyadinov, Alim Sufyanov, Seiran Khairedinov were arrested in the courtroom and placed in the courtroom the investigative detention center of Simferopol. Alexander Sizikov, who has a disability of the I visual group, was sent under house arrest. All detainees were accused of involvement in the religious organization “Hizb ut-Tahrir”, banned in Russia.
In May 2023, Sizikov was sentenced to 17 years in prison with the first four years in prison. On September 13, 2024, the appeal military court of the Russian Federation left the sentence of the Crimean man valid.
