Russians promise to suck fuel oil from one Volgoneft tanker by the end of the month

The Russian authorities promise to pump out the remnants of fuel oil from the Volgoneft-239 tanker, which suffered a disaster in the Kerch Strait, by the end of January. The corresponding message was published by the press service of the Ministry of Trans of the Russian Federation, they write Crimea.Realities.

“Specialists have completed the construction of a temporary road to the accident site and are finishing the collapse of the hull - the device of an embankment around the stern, which will protect it from storms and will make it possible to start pumping fuel oil from the tanks. It will be pumped out within two weeks, the work will be completed by the end of January,” the statement said.

The department also added that fuel oil near the stern and the shoreline was isolated with a bonnet fence, it is collected from the water by barge and by hand.

“2140 m of bonnet barriers have been installed around the tanker. 1236 tons of oil-containing mixture have already been removed from the feed, sealed semi-trailers will be used for transportation,” the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation noted.

As reported, two Volgoneft tankers with fuel oil crashed in the Kerch Strait on Sunday, December 15, — according to the main version, due to a storm.

As a result of the tanker accident, there was a spill of oil products. According to Russian media, Volgoneft-212 transported 4,300 tons of fuel oil. Shot and Baza claim that about the same amount of oil products were on board the Volgoneft-239.
