US President-elect Donald Trump again publicly promised to end the war in Ukraine and said that immediately after taking office he would be in contact with Russian dictator Putin, reports UNIAN.
According to him, he will agree with the ruler of the Kremlin about a meeting. According to CNN, he made such statements at a rally in Washington. “I will end the war in Ukraine, the chaos in the Middle East. We will prevent World War III,” Trump said.
In addition, the sources added, “Trump instructed his aides to call Putin immediately after the inauguration to discuss their meeting in the coming months to end the war in Ukraine.”
The publication recalled that during the election campaign, Trump promised to end the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in 24 hours. “But on the eve of his inauguration, little indicates that... the war is nearing completion. Therefore, he will probably break this promise,” the publication stated.
Journalists, however, detailed that Trump and his team intend to begin work as soon as possible on a peace plan that can be implemented in the first months of his presidency. This plan also includes a personal meeting with Putin.
The publication noted that the talks between Trump and Putin will show “a sharp departure from the approach of President Joe Biden,” who has not spoken with Putin for almost three years. “Trump sees things differently. His view... is that direct interaction with Putin is exactly what is needed to find a solution that will end the war,” the newspaper commented.
In addition, the publication noted that it is currently unknown whether Trump plans to continue the existing strategy of providing Ukraine with weapons and intelligence data. He also did not announce which security guarantees for Kiev he could agree to.
A few days ago, US President-elect Donald Trump announced a meeting with Putin. In turn, the Kremlin said they were open to contacts.
Then it became known that as soon as Trump takes office, American and Russian officials can begin serious work on organizing a personal meeting.
