Trump says he can understand the feelings with which Russia carried out the attack on Ukraine

US President-elect Donald Trump said he “can understand the feelings” of the Russian Federation in connection with the fact that Joe Biden allegedly violated the “agreement” on refusing to accept Ukraine into NATO.

Trump said this at a press conference at the Mar-a-Lago estate on January 7, reports “European Truth”.

The future US president once again blamed the Biden administration for initiating Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking about the causes of the war, he said the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO has been “a significant part of the problem for Russia for many, many years.”

“And at some point in time Biden said, 'No, they (Ukrainians) should be able to join NATO. ' Well, then in Russia some appear on the threshold. And I can understand their feelings on this issue,” Trump added.

Asked by a journalist to explain exactly when the United States denied the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, the president-elect said: “I think it was always clear.”

“In fact, I believe they had a deal and then Biden broke it. They had an agreement that would satisfy Ukraine and everyone else, but Biden said, “No, you should be able to join NATO,” he said.

Trump has previously said that Joe Biden should not have promised Ukraine membership in the Alliance, because of this, Russia allegedly started a full-scale war.

Earlier, he assured that in his attempts to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian war “he will not leave Ukraine.”
