The resort season 2025 in the annexed Crimea will be severely affected due to the emergency with the spill of fuel oil in the waters of the Kerch Strait and the spread of fuel oil emissions on the Crimean coast. As reported Crimea.RealitiesCrimean local scientist-tour guide, the reason for this is not so much the immediate consequences of the ecological disaster, as the failure to stop the problem in the information space.
According to the local historian, those responsible for the information agenda in the Russian authorities and Russian-controlled media in the annexed Crimea let the situation drift, as a result, the image of the resort Crimea suffered enormous damage.
“Since the twenties of December, fuel oil emissions began to appear on the Crimean coast. Instead of fixing the problem in the information space, those responsible for the information agenda have self-distanced themselves for long holidays. There was nothing for two weeks! As a result, volunteers and concerned Crimeans picked up the topic, starting to post on social networks a lot of information that scares off potential tourists. And this chaos of saving birds and thousands of gloomy photos on the network is an example of the blatant unprofessionalism of those responsible in the Aksonov team. This is unacceptable for the resort region,” the local expert said on condition of anonymity.
The local historian noted that mass refusals of early holiday reservations in Crimea have already begun.
“According to my information from familiar heads of Crimean accommodation facilities, after the New Year a rather significant volume of cancellation of reservations began, and the only reason people call oily pollution of water and beaches,” the local expert noted.
On January 3, Russian blogger Alexander Gorny, who moved to Koktebel after the annexation of Crimea, analyzing the current situation, stressed that “the tourist season can be completely disrupted in the east of Crimea.”
