Birds affected by Russian fuel oil are rescued in Crimea by burning them in a crematorium

In the Crimean lion park “Taigan” on January 7, they reported the first batch of birds affected by fuel oil, which were in overdrive here, sent for disposal by cremation. We are talking about 68 birds that have not suffered intoxication. Mostly these are greyhounds and gags, according to the correspondent Crimea.Realities.

According to the founder of the park, Oleg Zubkov, rehabilitated birds die every day.

“World experience suggests that only 10% of rescued birds survive in such situations,” Zubkov said.

As of January 7, there are already about 400 birds in the park.

“Daily expenses for maintenance, reception, electricity, fish, accommodation and food of volunteers, veterinary support, other expenses are 130-150 thousand rubles daily. We voluntarily agreed to this. But if the number of birds exceeds a thousand, we ourselves will not cope,” Zubkov said.

According to the activist from Belogorsk, on January 6, there was a check from Rospotrebnadzor in the lion park “Taigan”.

“Since we are talking about the mass maintenance of rescued birds for a long period, during the meeting we discussed the possibility of financing the construction of new large aviaries with bird pools. “Taigan” is currently coping with its own forces and with the help of volunteers, but it cannot last so long without the support of the state,” the activist said on condition of anonymity.

According to zookeepers, the Russian authorities in the annexed Crimea dumped the lion's share of the work on rescuing birds affected by fuel oil on volunteers.

In the annexed Crimea, volunteers launched a large campaign to save birds affected by fuel oil, but its effectiveness is rather low due to the chaos, lack of coordination on the part of a single center, a huge shortage of ornithologists and responsibility on the part of the overwatch sites for the preservation of life of those sent there birds.

As a result of the tanker accident in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2.4 thousand tons of oil products leaked into the Black Sea, according to the Russian Mortuary Service.
