In Crimea, bird mortality from Russian fuel oil is 98%

At a meeting held in the Crimean lion park “Taigan” with the heads of the regional headquarters for the rescue of waterfowl affected by fuel oil, it was recognized that the survival of rescued birds is about two percent. This is reported by the correspondent Crimea.Realities.

According to one of the Crimean zoologists, huge resources aimed at saving birds are wasted.

“At the meeting in Taigan, it was recognized that the process of washing birds from fuel oil and treating them is still carried out unqualified. The percentage of deaths is simply shocking. It turns out that all the colossal work and material costs turned out to be practically in vain,” the zookeeper said.

According to her, the head of the rehabilitation center established on the basis of the lion park “Taigan”, Oleg Zubkov, confirmed that in all other centers all birds have already died. He proposed not to delay the overcrowding of birds in the “Taigan”, but to release them into the water area of Lake Sasik-Sivash, where thousands of migratory birds hibernate and there are the most optimal conditions for the release of rescued birds into the wild.

The zookeeper noted that more than a thousand injured birds have already been sent to the park of Lviv “Taigan”.

As reported, two Volgoneft tankers with fuel oil crashed in the Kerch Strait on Sunday, December 15, — according to the main version, due to a storm.

As a result of the tanker accident, there was a spill of oil products. According to Russian media, Volgoneft-212 transported 4,300 tons of fuel oil. Shot and Baza claim that about the same amount of oil products were on board the Volgoneft-239.
