Further manipulative statements by the Hungarian leadership that Ukraine's decision not to extend from 2025 the transit agreement with the aggressor state of the Russian Federation allegedly had a negative impact on prices for consumers are part of a politically motivated information campaign for domestic consumption.
This is stated in the comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on the next manipulative statements of the Hungarian leadership.
“In a statement dated January 1, 2025, the European Commission clearly stated that the pre-announced decision of Ukraine did not have a negative impact on the energy security of EU countries and on consumer prices in the European market.
The only cause of problems in the European energy market has always been Russia. For decades, the Kremlin has used energy as a weapon, blackmailing European governments and undermining energy security.
The European Commission and European governments are successfully working together to diversify sources of supply and increase energy independence. All European countries have found the opportunity to provide their economies and people with alternative energy sources from the United States and the Middle East.
Only two of the twenty-seven EU countries failed to cope with this task, and now they are trying to shift their problems from a sick head to a healthy one.
In addition, in an attempt contrary to common sense to maintain dependence on Russia, they also effectively prevent access to the European energy market from the United States and other partners.
If for the Hungarian side the priority is to strengthen Russia, and not the EU and the United States, then this should be frankly recognized. Ukraine will be ready to take a vacant seat in the EU and NATO if Hungary decides to vacate it in favor of membership in the CIS or CSTO. If Hungary really wants to help end the war, it is worth starting by not destroying unity in the EU, and instead strengthening energy security and the independence of its own country and citizens along with the rest of Europe and the United States,” the document says.
