The Foreign Ministry responded to Russia's demand to cancel NATO's pledge in Bucharest to join Ukraine to end the war.
The response of the spokesman of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Georgy Tikhoy quotes “European Truth”.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tykhyi, in response to Russia's demand to abandon NATO membership, which was promised to Kiev in the 2008 Bucharest summit declaration, to settle the Russian-Ukrainian war, said that “Moscow was not given a word on this issue.”
“Oh, well, North Korea's ally is issuing ultimatums to NATO. Complete lies. Moscow has not given any words on this issue,” he said.
Tikhiy stressed that Russia is waging an invasion war in Europe.
“Its occupation forces are in Ukraine and other European countries. The architecture of European security is built on defense against Russia,” he concluded.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that the refusal of Ukraine to join NATO, which was promised to Kiev in the declaration of the Bucharest Summit in 2008, is one of the key elements for Russia to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian war.
According to him, Ukraine's potential membership in NATO “makes it impossible to achieve peace in Ukraine and, in a broader sense, to create at least some kind of security architecture.”
Meanwhile, President Vladimir Zelensky is confident that his American counterpart Donald Trump can influence whether Ukraine joins NATO.
