The Black Sea should be renamed “Russian” because “it has been so called for centuries.” This was stated by the deputy of the Saratov Regional Duma from the CPRF Denis Bulanov, Russian propaganda resources report.

The politician made his proposal against the background of the decision of the new American leader Donald Trump to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico.

“The idea of redefining geographical names is gaining popularity in world practice, reflecting the desire of countries to emphasize their historical and cultural identity,” he said.

According to the deputy, in this context, we should think about changing the name of the Black Sea. Answering a journalist's question what to do in this situation for Turkey and other countries that go to the Black Sea, Bulanov added that the new name will be used only inside Russia and other countries may not recognize it.
