During the occupation, the birth rate in Crimea fell by a third

In Crimea, during the 10 years of Russian occupation, the number of births decreased: from 24 thousand to 16.5 thousand.

This was reported by the Minister of Occupation Health of Crimea Aleksei Natarov, reports KafaNews.

“For 2014, the birth rate was 12.6 - more than 24 thousand births. For 2024 - more than 16.5 thousand births, the birth rate is 8.6", - he specified.

As Krymstat clarifies, the fact may be that the number of marriages concluded on the peninsula is decreasing, while the number of divorces is increasing. Thus, in 2015 there were 17.4 thousand marriages and 5.6 thousand divorces (32% of marriages broke up). In 2023, 12.6 thousand marriages were registered, divorces - 7.8 thousand (62% of marriages broke up).
