Bülbül (from the Crimean Tatar word for “nightingale” — Ed.) is a multimedia platform consisting of full-color printed books and flashcards for learning words, audiobooks, animated films, and songs. The content is aimed at children who are just beginning to speak and whose parents wish to instill in them a love for their native language.
The authors are a married couple of Crimean Tatar filmmakers — Fatima Osmanova and Eldar Khalilov.

The first season was released in late 2021. A large team of artists, singers, and directors spent nearly a year preparing it. Since then, the first eight original episodes have been viewed by nearly a million viewers. And in 2025, the second season began airing.

In this project, the authors began using neural networks for animation, and, as project lead Fatima Osmanova explains, they encountered new challenges that did not exist with the old technology.
The process turned out to be more complicated than hand-drawn animation. The neural network fills in a lot of details and alters the style of the illustrations. To preserve the original style, we had to create storyboards, and to produce a 5-second animation, the artist had to draw 3–4 illustrations in different phases: eyes open, eyes closed, wing flapping, steps, and so on…
The creators of Bülbül plan to draw attention to their content in new diaspora communities where Crimean Tatars find themselves in a foreign-language environment.
